I have thicker skin than I thought

Wow, I have thicker skin than I realized.

About 10 days ago, I had been commenting in my journal that there were several magazines that have not yet replied to my submissions, and that the time to start hearing responses was probably at hand.  Since then, I got three responses, all rejections.  Funny how that works out.
Today as I was writing in my journal, I commented that it is alright — I prefer timely responses, even if the news I hear isn’t what I would have preferred.
I didn’t realize I’d grown so thick-skinned!

Resources for Poets

I’ve started a new page at my main website for poets.  It lists a lot of resources for poets who are wanting to see their work in print, much like what this blog does.  It is a more permanent list, and one that will be expanding as time goes on.  Check it out if you are looking for some markets for your poetry.  There are lots of links and good leads there, and it will be updated too.

(While you are there, feel free to email me if you have suggestions of places to market your work that can be added to the list.)

Accepting Rejection

Rejection letters are a part of the poet’s life, as they are for any writer.

There’s a website, the Rejection Collection, that encourages poets and writers to “laugh in the face of rejection.”   Stop in — it is a great relief to those of us who regularly receive rejection letters.
Maybe I’ll see you there!
