A Poem I Found While Surfing

I found an interesting poem on a blog site today. It’s called “This is Not.”   I think it’s worth a look. I really enjoyed reading it.

I stumbled across this one when I saw the title pop up at my Blogrush widget (at my main blog site), and I am glad I did.  I liked a lot of the poetry I read while browsing through the site there.  I even subscribed to the feed.  It looks like there’s work worth following.

Hope you enjoy it too!

A Week Later

Just a week later, and I received more good news — another poem has been accepted for publication! This one will appear in The Pink Chameleon, and online magazine, beginning in June 2008.  It will be there for one year.

The poem is entitled “Company,” so be watching for it when it comes out next year.

Exciting News

I just got news this week that my poem “Child’s Play” has been accepted for publication next year.  It was accepted by a publishing house that has just published 2 of my poems this month.  I’ll put the links and details up when I get back home (my internet access is not fantastic now).

Woo-hoo!

First Writer

The firstwriter.com website has lots of resources for writers.  You can find there a database of literary agents, or another database of magazines where you can seek to have your work published.

There are also lots of competitions available through the website.  You can find the general listings that are suitable for all sorts of writers, or the more targeted databases for poets or for fiction writers.

A New Challenge

There’s a new poetry challenge up on my other blog site now. You’d have to have a membership there to participate, but you might enjoy reading along anyway. It’s based on the minute, a form I’ve written about here in the past.

32 Poems

32 Poems is a magazine that comes out twice a year. It hold only 32 poems in each issue, each 32 lines or less.

I’ve read 32 poems, and found most of the work there to be of very good quality. If you’d like to submit, it’s a good market. Make sure and include a bio with your submission — preferably of 32 words or less.

Screaming the Word

I’ve recently had one other poem published in the e-zine Bakery of the Poets, entitled “Screaming the Word.” You can read it here.

“Screaming the Word” is part of a collection of poems (as yet unpublished) called Dialogues with Uncle Asinonymous. I am still working on the overall collection, and hope it will one day be in publishable form in its entireity.

A Resource for Poets

In 2008, sadly, Poetry in the Arts will cease to publish online. I have used their list of poetry contests for some time, and have found their links and information very useful.

For now, that resource is still available to poets, and it still has very valuable information. But as of next year, when its contract with its service provider expires, it will no longer be available. If you’re a poet looking for ways to get your work out, you might want to browse through that site now, while there is still time to do so.
