Anthology Builder

I talked in a previous post about Anthology Builder.  I just received my first anthology from them, even quicker than was promised.  I wrote more about it on my main blog, if you’d like to read.

Now THAT is a Good Idea

I just came across something that strikes me as a very brilliant idea.  It’s a website called Anthology Builder, and here’s how it works.  There is a good database (ever expanding) of stories that have appeared in quality magazines over the years.  The site purchases reprint rights to the stories.  The buyer then can choose the stories from the authors s/he loves to read, or stories s/he has seen in print before and would like to own a copy of.  The buyer chooses the particular stories desired, and they are delivered as an anthology within 30 days.  The buyer chooses the cover design, making it a tailor-made anthology.

Writers can submit their stories that have previously appeared in magazines.  The stories will be stored in the database, and the author will receive a royalty each time his or her story is chosen for inclusion in a custom-made anthology.  Most of what is available on the site now is speculative fiction, but the plan is to broaden this out, eventually including poetry too.  I am excited to hear about this site — it looks very promising!
